HAIR CARE TIPS

Wavy & Curly Hair: Always wash hair with a mosturising shampoo and good conditioner, preferably ones designed for curly hair. Detangle while wet and apply a curl defining/curl control gel to wet or towel-dried hair, we love using Miss Jessie's Soft Curls. This will stop the hair from frizzing and lock in the wave or curl in the hair.

Styling Tools: It's very important to use a wide-tooth or paddle back brush when combing/ styling hair. Always use gentle strokes when detangling, washing and or styling the hair. Small tooth and retail combs can snag the hair which can cause unwanted shedding.

Heat Tools: When heat styling it is absolutely imperative that you ALWAYS USE HEAT PROTECTION. If you don't it can damage your hair instantly, especially when using heat on a coloured unit, putting heat on a coloured unit without protection can instantly strip the hair colour.

Before Going to Bed: Gently brush hair to remove all tangles. Tie a headscarf around your frontal hairline, braid your hair into a couple of big braids if wearing a curly unit, or tie your hair into a ponytail or bun. Sleeping in a satin scarf/bonnet is very beneficial, however, we suggest removing your unit before bed for best results.

Washing Your Hair: Keeping your unit clean is very important, maintaining good quality hair.

Use Coconut oil as a 'PrePoo' add water to hair and detangle (always detangle curly hair wet) using a tangle teezer.

Fill a bath/large bowl or sink with lukewarm water then add shampoo to the water only, try and use a good moisturising detangling sulfate-free shampoo (Afro Caribbean brands work best).

Gently wash hair in the soapy bath/bowl/sink taking your time to detangle Do Not Scrub or wash aggressively, wash hair in a downward motion. Pay attention to how you hold the hair while washing as you could cause unwanted knotting.

Once clean and towel-dried distribute the conditioner evenly throughout the hair, use a generous amount and leave on for 30mins.

After washing and deep conditioning your hair, apply a good leave-in conditioning product, this always helps to keep your hair soft and moisturised.
Air dry and style as desired.

Wash hair with shampoo every once a week, depending on how frequently you wear your unit. In between co-wash, or every other wash day use a co-wash instead of shampoo (wash with conditioner).
